Obituary

We’re here today to celebrate the legacy of our King, our Patriarch, Giuseppe Buongiorno.  Born in 1928, in Locri, Reggio Calabria, he moved to Toronto with his Queen, Francesca and their 6 kids to start a new life full of promise and security.  They went on to have another 2 kids, having a total of 8 children.  That family then continued to blossom, and by age (almost) 92, he had not only 8 kids, but 14 grandkids and had the privilege of knowing his 4 great grandkids. Giuseppe was a man of honour.  His words and his love for his family was proven day in day out, by his actions.  A man of consistency and a true example of what keeping your promise as a family man means, he was forever by the side of his (and our) Queen, Francesca.  He was forever a pillar of support for his children, pushing them to be the best versions of themselves.  And he was successful…because look at us.  We are a family of deep roots, true bonds, pure love and a protection over our loved ones no matter what. He showed us that. Together with Francesca, they kept the heartbeat of the family alive.  We will not lose that in his passing.  We will keep those bonds going strong and going forward.  We owe him that much after all he’s given us. In the midst of all this craziness going on in the world, we were robbed of the one thing we all want in death – to be with those we love so no one passes alone. However, he passed in the room right next door to where his Queen once was…and they even had the same nurse!  So really, he wasn’t alone.  Our King had his Queen by his side the whole time– turns out she never left.  Now they’re reunited and will continue to watch over all of us, until the day we are all together again: eating obscene amounts of food, kissing each other relentlessly…and probably being told to keep it down by the neighbouring angels.   We love you Giuseppe: Dad, Brother, Nonno, King Buongiorno.   *Due to the current restrictions imposed on all funeral homes by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, visitations and funeral services will be limited to no more than 10 people and unfortunately will not be open to the public. In order to show your support to the family, you may wish to express your sympathy by writing a message of condolence on our website, making a donation to a charity of your choice or sending a floral arrangement to be displayed at the funeral home. On behalf of the family, we thank you for your understanding and the changes in place to keep everyone safe during this global pandemic.*

Our sincere consoldences to the Buongiorno family whom we have known for many, many years. Mr. Buorngiorno was a wonderful man, and we had the privilege and honour to get to know him when Julian, our son, was born as Nunzio is his Godfather and we often went to the Buongiorno home for visits. Truly a beautiful man who is now reunited with his Queen, and other family. May you Rest in Eternal Peace. Jason, Nikki, Julian.

Nonno Joe was like a father to me and a mentor in so many ways as well. He will no doubt be greatly missed but i am also here to celebrate his life and also grateful to have had them in our lives for so long and that my wife and kids were also able to spend so much time with all of you.
