Obituary

With great sadness we announce the passing of Jason Ira Ulrich, age 51, from sudden cardiac arrest on the morning of March 12th 2022 at Toronto Western Hospital with his loving partner of 26 years, Susan, by his side.
Jason was born in Toronto at the Wellesley Hospital to proud parents Lothar and Karen Ulrich. We sadly lost Karen to Alzheimer's related complications only 9 months ago.
From a young age Jason was active, happiest swimming, boating, skiing or on the tennis court. He loved tennis camp and was even ranked as a junior player. He had a magnetic personality that always drew friends to him. His warmth and excellent sense of humour made people feel at ease -- especially when met with his 6ft5 height and grand stature.
Jason's baby sister Lindsay came along when he was 13 years old. He always felt very protective of her and cherished how their strong bond grew into adulthood.
Jason attended Northern Secondary School where he made many friends, among them Susan. They began dating several years later and remained inseparable throughout their two and a half decades together.
While attending Ryerson, Jason would meet several lifelong friends and begin his career as a graphic designer. While graphic design filled his working hours, he was also able to pursue his passion of soulful music through many years of DJing and record collecting. He began a record label called Lab.our Music with fellow DJ & friend Stuart Li. They traveled as far as Berlin to share their love of music and expertise in the dance music scene. Jason will be sorely missed in the house music community.
Those who knew Jason best will fondly recall his love of seeking out the latest food spots with friends, his walking coffees and chats, day drives, road trips, and visits with family, bringing his lovable humour to every occasion.
Jason is predeceased by his mother Karen, and survived by his father Lothar, sister Lindsay (Andor) and partner Susan. He will be dearly missed by friends and family.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held for friends and family. Details will be released at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jason's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I went to John Wanless public school and Glenview junior high with Jason. We were great friends, I grew up on the next street over from his house on old orchard. We had many laughs. Miss you my friend. RIP.

Far, far too soon. A gentle giant, caring, considerate, humerous - Jason deserved far more life and we deserved more of him. But, Jason, although we greatly miss you, you live on in our hearts and minds.
