We live in the Sunnylea neighbourhood near John's home. John was a very congenial "fixture" in the area and spoke to almost anyone he passed by while walking his dog. My wife and I remember jokes he would share or funny observations he made of neighbourhood people or activities. He was our "Neighbourhood Watch". He told of of his early days when first married living in a bungalow on Kirkbradden and then moving to the current home on Grenview to raise his family. We will miss his cheery and personable presence. We deeply share in your loss and hope that time and memories will comfort you. Steve and Pacita Favell

Gordon and I extend our sympathy to you. To us he was the 'walking man' who was always there with a hello. We have lived in the neighbourhood for about 40 years and we met John many times on walks. I remember recently that he saw a man and woman sitting outside at Starbuck this summer and they were each texting. He commented to them that they should put the phones away and talk to each other directly. He had a mischievous nature and good humour and we are sorry for the loss. Our hearts are with you, we will miss our favourite uncle dearly. I have such fond memories of our times at the cottage being silly with Voyko and the cousins. Ruby will always remember "Fred", which he insisted his name was when we saw him this fall. Will see you soon. With love, Lisa, Andrew and Ruby
