Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlie Salmon, suddenly on November 20, 2013, in Toronto. Charlie was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Lillian and his brother Bob. He will be deeply missed by his longtime companion Tara Bissett, brothers Hugh and Andy, sister Liz, extended family, bandmates, and a close circle of friends. A graduate of Ontario College of Art and Design, Charlie was a talented artist and musician. Charlie had numerous friends and touched many people in Toronto's music community. He was lead singer and guitarist in the Plasterscene Replicas, a popular Canadian band in the 1990's. He had remained a fixture on the local music scene even with a diagnosis of leukemia four years ago. Throughout these years, Charlie inspired many with his originality, integrity, gentleness, and his stoic will to live. He was deeply grateful to his anonymous stem-cell donor when, in 2011, he received a bone-marrow transplant. Charlie, we are all thankful that you are no longer suffering and finally at peace. Read about Charlie's contribution to Toronto's music community in Now Magazine at http://www.nowtoronto.com/music/story.cfm?content=195451. Friends will be received at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst St. There will be a gathering in memory of Charlie on Sunday October 24, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. A musical memorial will take place in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, http://www.llscanada.org/.Visitation
