Obituary
ROSIL, Iwan (“John”) – It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the peaceful but sudden passing of Iwan Rosil on Thursday , February 20th , 2014 at St.Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto in his 91st year. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Mina (Meniw ), he was the much loved father of Jurij ( Sue ) and Myron ( Karen ), and very precious grandfather ( “Dido” ) to Christopher, Andrew , Nicholas and Isabelle. He is survived by his sister Hania, nephew Yuri and family in Ukraine. In his early years, Iwan passionately devoted his life in support of the Ukrainian Army (UPA) during World War 2 in Ukraine. He came to Canada in 1957 and was a long-time employee of Etobicoke Parks and Recreation where he retired in 1989. He worked hard and played hard but to his very core, he was deeply proud of his heritage and had a profound love for his family. He will be remembered always and sorely missed by all his family and friends in Canada, USA and Ukraine. A visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home (92 Annette St.) on Sunday, February 23rd from 6-9 p.m. where the Panachyda will commence at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection(30 Leeds St.) on Monday, February 24th at 10 a.m. Interment and reception will follow at St. Volodymyr Cemetery (UPA section), Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.Visitation
