Obituary

Kazimierz Mamak passed away peacefully at the age of 97, on December 28, 2022, surrounded by those that cared for him.

Kazimierz was born in Poland and in his youth joined the Polish Resistance Movement and was captured by the Russian Army during the Soviet invasion of Poland during WWII.  As a Polish prisoner-of-war, he was sent to work in a labour camp in Siberia.  He later escaped and went to France.  Wanting to return back to Poland at the end of the war, he was sent to a Displaced Persons Camp in Altenstadt, Germany.  There he met and married his loving wife Irena (predeceased January 23, 2020), started a family and was a DP Police Officer.  Kazimierz immigrated with his young family to Canada in 1950 and worked as a gold miner in the Sullivan Mines in Val D'Or, Quebec.  He eventually moved his family to Toronto and worked in construction as a painter and later as an automotive and truck painter for the Ford Motor Company in Oakville until his retirement.

Kazimierz loved to laugh, give hugs, fix things, draw, go fishing, take care of his family, pets and any stray animal.  Most of all he loved the time he spent with his beloved wife of over 70 years, being with his children and grandchildren and helping out anyone else who needed it.  His kindness and generosity touched many around him.  Kazimierz will be greatly missed by his children Richard (Mary), Nicholas (Anouk), Christine Seto (Michael), his grandchildren Adam (Holly), David (Elaine), Matthew, Rachel, and great-grandchildren Laura, Layla and Joshua.

Many thanks to the compassionate nurses and staff on 3 South at Copernicus Lodge Long-Term Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Copernicus Lodge Long-Term Care.
