Obituary
Abernathy Ken - (1923 - 2012) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Pa who died on February 20th 2012 in his 90th year in Barrie, Ontario. Born and raised in the Mount Dennis area of Toronto, the area he cherished. Carpenter by trade he had built his last deck at the age of 84. He was always on the go. Past employee of Silverwood's Dairy on Dupont St. During his life he had seen many go before him. Predeceased by his wife Barbara Abernathy (1995), and the sudden loss of his daughter Lynda Spurvey (1999). Pa leaves behind his grandchildren, Susie Gilbreath, and her husband Scott, Kenny Spurvey, and Katie Spurvey, as well as his three great-grandchildren (his cup of tea buddies), Brianna, Ethan, and Nathan Gilbreath. Our hearts are broken, nothing will ever be the same but I know you will keep heaven in line until we meet again. In Pa's fashion, buy yourself a ticket to The Princess Margaret Hospital to honour his memory by benefiting yourself and also one of his favourite foundations. Friends will be received at the Cardinal Funeral Home 366 Bathurst St. Toronto on Friday February 24th, 2012 from 4-9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place on Saturday February 25th 2012 at 1 p.m. in Funeral Home Chapel. I only wish i had the words to express my sorrow for your loss. Pa was such a good person and I enjoyed our talks when we came by. You are all in my prayers. Your memories will give you strength, for to live in the hearts you leave behind is not to die.
