Obituary

In Loving Memory of Michael Coelho

August 30, 1974 – January 24, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Coelho, who left us on Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 50.  Michael was a beloved child, whose life was marked by resilience and love, having been predeceased by his mother Aurea, at a young age. Despite this early loss, Michael grew into a remarkable individual, deeply cherished by all who knew him.

Michael, born in Toronto, was a chef by trade, and had a true passion for the culinary arts.  Outside of the kitchen, Michael enjoyed painting on canvas, woodworking, cycling, and traveling. These hobbies reflected Michael's creative spirit and love for adventure. Michael had an unwavering belief in the goodness of people and a desire to help others.  He was a lifelong learner, constantly acquiring new skills and seeking to understand the intricacies of how things worked. His curiosity and creativity allowed him to transform everyday life into art.

Michael is predeceased by his mother, Aurea Mendes Coelho, his grandparents, Eduardo Coelho, Maria Antonio Mendes and Angelo Mendes, and his aunt Zeze (Jose) Gomes.

Michael is survived by his devoted father, Albino Coelho, his loving stepmother, Carmen, and his cherished grandmother, Maria Coelho.  He also leaves behind his aunts Nina Colangelo (Fidel), and Augusta Mendes, his cousins Lisa Colangelo, Luigi Colangelo (Tisha), Luisa Colangelo (Fabio), Teresa Fonseca (Frank), Joe Gomes (Sandra), and Michelle Hamilton (Jerome), his extended cousins Daniel Colangelo, Giuliano and Luca Di Fonzo, Chloe Colangelo, Tatiana Dasilva, Alexandra and Jacob Fonseca, Emily Khan, Isabella and Jordan Gomes, Noah and Jack Hamilton, his faithful dog, Bodhi, and his many dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Michael will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street, at 2:00 PM where family and friends will gather to celebrate Michael's life and legacy.

Rest in peace, Michael. Your spirit will forever remain a part of us, and we will continue to cherish the memories you gave us.  You will be deeply missed, forever loved and always remembered.
