Obituary
October 2, 1936 – December 18, 2024 It is with great sorrow that the family of Carmina Travassos announce her peaceful passing at Toronto Western Hospital on December 18th, 2024, in her 88th year, after a 15 year long battle with Alzhemiers.
Carmina was the beloved wife of Benjamin Travassos for 63 years and a loving mother to Fatima Labinowicz, Carmina (Joe) Oliveira, and Benjamin F. Travassos. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Tara Nagentheren (Shandeep), Erika Saraiva (Jon), Emily Osmow (Ben), and Abigail Oliveira. Born in Rabo de Peixe, Açores, Portugal on October 2, 1936, Carmina emigrated to Canada with her husband and three children on December 8, 1973, seeking a better life for her family. Together, they worked hard and built a beautiful life filled with love, resilience, and many cherished memories. Carmina was a woman of deep faith and unwavering love for her family, and her strength, kindness, and dedication were felt by all who knew her.
Carmina was known for her infectious laughter, vibrant sense of humor, and her deep love of music and dancing. Her home was always filled with the joy of song, and she was the first to get up and dance at any opportunity. She was a gifted cook and loved tending to her garden.
