Obituary

LOYKO, Catherine (LOTYCH) of the Carpathian Mountains, Ukraine. After a very brief illness and surrounded by family, on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in her 92nd year in Ottawa. Dear wife of Fred(deceased) for over 53 years. Loved Mama of Lesia “Lisa” (Gord) Baker of Ottawa and Marijka (Ihor) Prokipchuk. Very special Babcia (Grandma) of Tetyana, Christyna (husband Aaron Steacie), Ostap and Matviy Prokipchuk and Emily and Lara Baker. Incredible Pra (Great) Babcia of Lev Steacie. Predeceased by a brother and sister in Ukraine. Catherine was a very hard worker and devoted Christian. She loved children, animals and nature, and was celebrated for her ‘golden hands’, which could turn sticks into rosebushes. She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Many Thanks to Dr. Avi Perl and Dr. M. Kates in Toronto, for nurturing her health for an extra 30 great years, and to emergency and ICU staff at Queensway Carleton Hospital (Ottawa) for keeping her comfortable in her final days. Mrs.Loyko is resting at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St. Visitation Tuesday, 6 – 9pm. Panachyda at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass Wednesday, 10am at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church (4 Bellwoods Ave.). Interment will follow at St. Volodymyr Cemetery, Oakville. If desired, donations to Canadian Lung Association and Ukrainian Youth Ensembles Toronto are appreciated. Vichnaya Pamyat!
