Obituary

It is with broken hearts and immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenija Furda (nee Jakemiv) on March 30, 2025 in her 97th year in Toronto, Ontario.

Eugenija was born in the Ukraine and her family moved to the former Yugoslavia when she was a very young child.  From there she immigrated to Canada with her husband and her 5 month old baby Ola on July 20, 1951.

Eugenija passed away peacefully with her family by her side.  She was the cherished wife of 61 years to her predeceased and loving husband Jaroslav Furda (Jerry).  She leaves behind her loving children, Ola Furda, Mary Sinkarcuk (Joe) and her grandson, Steven, as well as many nieces and a nephew.

Eugenija leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion to her family, faith, determination, hard work she built with her husband.  A legacy that now sustains her children.

Eugenija's impact was profound, touching the lives of all that crossed her path.

The family would like to thank the Ukrainian Canadain Care Centre in Toronto for their wonderful and compassionate care that was shown to Eugenija and her family.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

If so desired, on-line condolences may be made at Cardinal Funeral Homes (92 Annette Street location)
