Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother & grandmother, Gloria Jalandra Sarria on August 15, 2022 at Toronto General Hospital at the remarkable age of 99. She was born in Manapla, Negros Occidental, Philippines on August 3, 1923 to her parents Nestorio Jalandra & Consejo Fuentebella.
Inday Gloria, as she was affectionately known by, is predeceased by her loving husband, Ramon B. Sarria Sr. (1980) with whom she shares 10 devoted children. She loved her children unconditionally & supported them through the many highs & occasional lows. She is survived by her daughter Maria Brenda (Salvador), son Renato (Otilla), son Roberto (Anna; predeceased), son Ramon (Elnora), son Rolando, son Ricardo (Mila), daughter Gloria Jo (Napoleon), son Rogelio (Cristy), daughter Ramona (Joselito) & son Rod. She was also blessed with 25 grandchildren and bountiful great & great, great grandchildren.
Inday Gloria enjoyed her younger years raising her family but also dedicated a great deal of her time to charitable organizations including, Ladies of Charity in the Philippines where they raised funding support, goods & services to those less fortunate. She was also heavily involved in the Christmas gift-giving drive each year in Central Azucarera de Pilar. As a dutiful Catholic, she also offered her time in organizing & preparing the Santo Entierro for the annual procession during Holy week.
After the passing of her husband, Ramon who she affectionately referred to as Ramoning, Inday Gloria immigrated to Canada in 1982 to join her family and care for several of her grandchildren. She is the proud founder of the Lutod Lutod organization & always looked forward to their annual picnics & Christmas parties where she was usually the first one on the dance floor, encouraging all to follow in her signature dance moves.
She maintained her commitment as a devout catholic, attending mass faithfully & praying her Novena on a daily basis. Throughout the course of the pandemic, she remained steadfast & attended virtual mass up to 3 times a day. In her free time, Inday Gloria enjoyed singing, dancing, cooking & traveling to some of the most sacred monuments around the world, including the Holy Land & various shrines across Europe.
To say that her family & friends will miss her terribly is an understatement. Her big heart, kindness, generosity & lively spirit has left a huge void but she will be remembered & cherished by all of those who were fortunate enough to have experienced it over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation in her loving memory
