Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Iwanna Melnyk-Hawryluk announce her passing, with her daughter by her side, on February 17th, 2016. Iwanna was predeceased by her late husbands Iwan Melnyk and Iwan Hawryluk. Much loved and forever remembered Mother and Mother in-law of Dr. Illarion Melnyk (Imi), and Tanya Holownych (late husband, Clarence). Iwanna was a treasured and devoted Nana to Larissa (Kelly Hindson), Fred (Carrie), Deanna (Matthew Adams), Tammy, Michael (Alicia), and Andrew (Emily). Iwanna was a treasured and devoted great-Nana to Jessica, Braydon, Ilyana, Kiya, Michael, Lex, Emalee, Mika, Mateo, Mark, Eric, Mariah, Susannah, and Maxdan. Iwanna was a very special wife, Mother, Nana, great Nana, whose love for family will be cherished forever. She will be remembered for her haute couture fashion, exquisite hats and her paintings. Iwanna's family would like to thank the excellent care and support she received from Dr. Brian Gilbert, the TE team at Sunnybrook Hospital, Dr. Rahul Jaine, Jane Smart, Walter Leahey CCAC coordinator and Chung Lee palliative care nurse with the Tammy Latner Palliative Care team and CCAC caregiver Jeannette and private nurse Hazel. Funeral Visitation will be at Cardinal Funeral Home at 92 Annette Street on Friday February 19th from 9am to 11am. A mass will be held at St. Nicholas Church, 4 Bellwoods Ave on Friday at 11am. A reception in her honour will be held at Baby Point Lounge at 343 Jane St. at 1pm. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Iwanna may be made to St. Demetrius Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre located on La Rose Ave.
