Obituary

Livia Resendes, (nee Pereira Raposo), passed away peacefully at Humber River Hospital this past Thursday September 5, with family around her. She was 97 and leaves behind 8 children, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.   She was in great spirits until the end, incredibly strong, deeply loving and very funny. She is going to be greatly missed by her family, and her countless friends.
Livia’s earthly journey began in the stunningly beautiful Azores Islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. At 42 years old she and our beloved dad Antonio (now deceased) immigrated to Toronto with six children in tow to start a new life – the familiar brave immigrant story occurring once more, but this time in our own family. As we would expect, this courageous indomitable woman proceeded to learn enough of the new language to be able to understand conversations and communicate with her beloved grandchildren.
But this isn’t where the story ends! – She accepted Christ as savior some 45 years ago and has led us all by gentle, kind, thoughtful example ever since then. She is now in the presence of her Lord whom she loved and served with joy and grace.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me”. – John 14:6
“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. – Jeremiah 29:11

Madriha. you were the best Mother in law any one could ask for. You treated me like a son, and we had great times with you, when Lydia use to cal to tell you we are coming to visit you, the first thing you would say was tell antonio to bring his tools. I have a job for him. and going to china town for your veggies etc, You will be greatly missed, but I find comfort knowing you are with Jesus christ. Love ❤️You.
