Obituary
Ludmyla was born on Sep 24, 1926 in Konotop, Ukraine. She was predeceased by her father Petro Babych, mother Valentyna Carlson and brother Vsevolod.
The family moved to Kyiv where her father worked as a geologist at the Academy of Sciences. In his travels she would accompany him and first hand saw the horror of the Holodomor. It left an indelible mark on her. During WWII the family left Ukraine and lived in a displaced persons camp in Germany. There she met the love of her life Mychailo.
Immigrating to Canada in 1949 she settled in Kingston, Ontario; there giving birth to her son Roman. She worked as a pharmacy technician at the Hotel Dieu Hospital until moving to Toronto where with Mychailo they opened 'West Arka' to serve the Ukrainian Community in the Bloor West Village.
Later they moved to Florida and ran a motel business in Fort Lauderdale for several years. Ludmyla then returned to her profession working in the pharmacy at Broward Health Imperial Point. After Mychailo's death in 2005 she returned to Toronto to be near her son Roman, daughter-in-law Motrya and loving grandsons Stefan and Anton.
Her last five years she spent at the Ivan Franko Home where she was affectionately cared for. A special thanks to the dedicated staff on the second floor.
Ludmyla was a compassionate, intelligent woman. She will be dearly missed by her family.
The family has asked for donations to be made to Unite with Ukraine Fund or a charity of your choice.
