Obituary

On Thursday, October twenty fourth, 2024, Margarida de Fatima Resendes Botelho Borges was reunited with family in heaven.  Born to Maria Jose and Fulgencio Botelho, on July 13th, 1953 in Ribeirinha, Sao Miguel, Azores as the oldest sibling to sisters Mary, Laura, and Teresa, and brother David.  In search of a higher standard of living, she immigrated to Canada:  land of cold and snow as she described it.  She entered the work force as a seamstress, but eventually switched to working for the University of Toronto as an office cleaner.   In 1973, she married Mariano and they remained spouses until his death in 2021.  She will be remembered as a devout Roman Catholic, her fashion sense, home decorative style and most of all, her generosity.  Her good nature and sense of humour will not only leave a void for her sons John and Brian and daughter-in-law Wanda, but also for her extended family and friends.  Her family would thank Gloria, Tsering, and Doris for their assistance during Margarida’s illness.

Margarida, I have always felt so honored to be your daughter in law. From the first day we met you welcomed me with open and loving arms.  I could not have asked for a more loving, caring, and accepting mamma to allow me so graciously into your family to love and care for your son. You have helped us in more ways than you know and taught us many life lessons.  You have become a second mother to me and your loss has left a hole in my heart. You raised two amazing humans who have taken on the very best qualities of you. My promise to you is to love and nurture both of your beloved sons. I am sad of course that you have left us, but I know that you have suffered and are now at peace. In the end, that is all I prayed for. I hope to honor you by shopping a LOT...eating the best sweats...and continuing to love your family as hard and deep as you always did. I will miss you dearly, as we all will. But I know you will walk beside us as our beautiful guardian angel.
