Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Leonor Costa, at the age of 79, of Toronto, on February 21, 2025. After bravely battling illness for many years, Leonor peacefully succumbed to a stroke, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Leonor was a strong, courageous woman who fought until the very end.

Born on June 21, 1945, Leonor was a woman of boundless warmth, generosity, and love. Her kind heart and nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, and she gave so much of herself to her family and friends.

Leonor will forever be cherished and lovingly remembered by her children: Carlos Costa and his wife Tamara, along with their children Regan, Brandon, and Mackenzie, and by her daughter Laura Costa. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings: Hortencia, Olga, Fernando, Ana, David, Durval, and Lucia, along with their spouses, and by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. She is now reunited in rest with her dear husband, Adriano Costa, her mother Eduina, and her father Artur, as well as many other beloved family members who have gone before her.

One of Leonor's greatest joys in life was raising her children and adoring her grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. Even during her struggles with illness, Leonor’s unwavering compassion for others never faltered. She was always there to support her family and lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her kindness, generosity, and selflessness were constant, and she always put the needs of others before her own.

A Celebration of Life will be held in March to honor Leonor. The family will share details on time and location in the coming weeks. Those who wish to pay their respects and celebrate her life are warmly invited to join us. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to MSHope.com.

The loss of Leonor is deeply felt by her loving family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, spirit, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
