Obituary
On April 9, 2025, just a few weeks past her 99th birthday, Mary slipped peacefully and quietly away to join her beloved Joe, her husband of 47 years.
She leaves behind her sons Gregory (Lonna), Michael (Ann), John (Rose-Mary) and her daughter Karina. Also remembering her fondly are her four grandchildren Joel, Adrienne, Stefan and Joseph and one great granddaughter Olivia.
Mary was an incredibly hard worker, raising four children, caring for her father, working as a bookkeeper, helping at the Ukrainian Camp and volunteering.
She had a highly energetic, enthusiastic and sparkling character. Mary loved to laugh, dance and sing, belonging for many years to a Ukrainian Ladies’ Choir as well as her church choir.
Mary was an industrious volunteer, knitting more than 3,000 hats for newborns at Credit Valley Hospital. For this amazing service she was awarded a commendation by Mayor McCallum, one of Mary’s heroes.
And she loved to travel. Twice she cruised around the world; she sailed around South America, the British Isles, the Mediterranean and the Baltics. In an adventurous spirit, she safaried through Africa. In later years she spent many happy winter months in Cuba.
Mary lived a long, full and exhilarating life. We will miss her dearly.
Cremation has already taken place. Friends may visit on Monday, April 21st between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Many thanks to all the care givers, nurses, doctors and PSW’s who helped and cared for our mother in her declining years.
