Obituary

Mrs. Rosaria Pietramala, the devoted wife of the Late Mr. Giuseppe Pietramala (d. 1993), after a brief illness died peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. She was born in Cleto, Cosenza, Italy, immigrating to Canada from the port of Naples, and arriving at Pier 21 Halifax, Nova Scotia, on March 6, 1958, with her two oldest children, to join her husband Giuseppe already in Canada with whom she would be married for 42 years. Until the last days of her life, she was living with and cared for by her family in her Toronto home owned since the early 1960s in Toronto’s Little Italy. Beloved and devoted mother to Stanislao (deceased), Giorgio (George), Pasquale, Maria, Fernando, and Marco, she will be greatly missed by all including her grandchildren Anthony, Christoper, their sister Amanda, and her extended families and friends throughout Canada, Italy and Argentina. Till the last days of her lengthy life all friends and family were amazed at her memory and wit, her patience and loving perseverance. She was a passionate Calabrian mother, the type of 20th century Italian mother universally renowned, greeting all with a grand smile and a keen glance. With dolorous hearts, she will be missed.

My condolences to you and the family sorry for your loss to the wonderful lady. I’m going to miss her and talking to her. She was the number one sweetest person I ever met to miss her so much. It’s heartbreaking to hear the passing of youth mother, she is the best.

On behalf of my parents, Januario and Natalia Umbelina, and my family, we express our most sincerest condolences on the loss of a former treasured neighbour. We remember her as a kind and loving neighbor. Always welcoming and happy. Despite so many set backs in her life she raised her children to be loving and kind individuals. Our thoughts are with the family at this time. May she rest in eternal peace
