Obituary

Adriana died peacefully on December 16, 2014 after a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer. Daughter of the late Maria and Stephan Genik-Sas-Berezowsky, she will be remembered always by daughter Melania, son Paul, their father Roman Radelicki, and brothers Roman and Miron Berezowsky with their families. The integrity, resilience, energy, and passion Adriana brought to her teaching and community commitments continually inspired the respect and love of students, colleagues, and friends alike. She was a devoted mother, sister, and daughter who never hesitated to place her family’s needs above her own. Adriana was a dedicated, compassionate, and honest woman who will live on in the hearts of those who know her, and will be profoundly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Plast Ukrainian Youth Association of Canada, the Ukrainian Music Festival or the Pencer Brain Trust.

I am so sorry to just hear of the passing away of Adriana. I was a colleague of hers a few years back at Monarch Park. She always struck me as a powerful force of good in the world, especially when it came to her dedication to bringing music into the lives of her students. She will be missed profoundly. I extend my deepest sympathies to members of her family and wish each of you strength at this time, knowing that, in part, that strength will derive from the memory of her enduring legacy to those that she encountered and blessed with an invaluable gift, that of music.

I had the pleasure of teaching English with Adriana at Northern Secondary School and later in her role as a music coordinator with the TDSB we crossed paths again. She had the most amazing smile and quick wit. My thoughts are with your entire family at this time.

Oh Adriana, what sad and terrifying news ... my condolences to your whole family, including your large family of friends and dedicated teaching partners at Monarch Park Collegiate and the whole TDSB. You have been an inspiration to so many, many young people in their lives ... thank you for your dedication, hard work, integrity, desire for excellence in everything and joyful sense of the silly and rediculous (when needed). We are all the poorer for your loss, but thank you for your gifts.
