Obituary

Lana Lynn Emerson, affectionately known as Tana and Lulu, was born on June 1, 1964, in Halifax, Nova Scotia to the Late Billy and Delores (nee Emerson) Flynn.  She passed away peacefully with her family by her bedside on August 21, 2024, in Toronto, ON, where she had made her home many years ago.
Lana was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from spending time with her four children, Arika (Thomas Sr.) Lanika, Chelsea, and Joshua and her grandchildren, Myah, Thomas Jr. Allaina, Tink Meadow , Bryson and Adrian. Her pride in their accomplishments and growth was evident to all who knew her.
A true foodie at heart, Lana had a particular fondness for a good donair from back home, fresh seafood, and a hearty boiled dinner.  Lana was an avid reader and a lover of music, she found happiness in dancing and attending outdoor concerts, where she would often lose herself in the rhythms of her favorite bands. She enjoyed spending time playing online games and meeting many people from around the world. She cherished her visits to Niagara Falls, a place she considered her favorite in the world. Lana's caring nature and selfless spirit shone brightly in her interactions with others. She was known for her warm heart and willingness to help anyone in need, often saying, “no one has time for that” when faced with negativity, and encouraging everyone to “go live your best life.” Besides her children, she is survived by her sister Wanda, brothers Denny (Tamara), Gino, Tyrone, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins especially her special cousin/sister Melissa Allison, who will all carry her memory dear in their hearts.
She was predeceased by her brother, Cordell, maternal grandparents, Amos & Marjorie (nee Cassidy) Emerson, paternal grandparents, John & Ethel (nee Nickerson) Flynn, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lana's legacy will live on through her family and friends, who will remember her as a loving, supportive, and empowering presence in their lives. Her unwavering belief in the potential of those she loved will continue to inspire them as they navigate their own journeys.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 30, 2024 at 1:00pm at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst St. Toronto with Rev. Brad Inglis officiating. A reception will follow immediately afterwards at Scadding Court Community Centre, 707 Dundas St. W. Toronto.
The Family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ciara Whalen and the Palliative Care Team at Mount Sinai and Princess Margaret Hospital for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Scott Mission in Lana’s Memory.
Until we meet again Sister Lana ❤️
