Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Bijan on July 14, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Hryhorij (Harry) Bijan (2003). Loving mother of Irene Worthington (Arthur) and Roman. Dear grandmother (baba) of Diana Worthington (James Mast) and Evelyn Worthington (Ryan McGrath). Cherished great grandmother of Mason Mast. She also leaves behind nieces and a nephew in Ukraine. Olga was born in Boratyn, Ukraine. At age 17 she was taken to work in Germany during WW2. She arrived in Canada in 1948 and worked in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan before arriving in Toronto, where she met and married Hryhorij in 1951. She was a gentle and kind woman, who was very devoted to her family. We would like to thank her caregiver Olena for her loving care over the past few years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church (Toronto) or Canada-Ukraine Foundation. Visitation Sunday July 18, 2-5 pm at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette Street, Toronto. Funeral service Monday July 19, 11 am at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4 Bellwoods Avenue, Toronto. Internment at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville. May her memory be eternal! Vichnaya Pamyat!
Beginning July 16, 2021 the Bereavement Authority of Ontario is once again permitting visitations and services to take place that are open to the public. We must continue to maintain physical distancing, the wearing of masks and may not allow more than 40 guests at any one time. Once the maximum limit has been reached, we will ask any additional guests to kindly wait outside in a physically-distanced line until there is room to enter safely.
