Obituary

Addy Mandzewych (SEPTEMBER 1924 - OCTOBER 2015) Née Adelheid (Heidi) Erika Kroker. Passed away peacefully in her 92nd year. Addy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a former dancer, and performed in musicals and ballets in her native Germany before coming to Canada in 1949 to join her husband John Mandzewych (died 2004.) Together they made a good life in Canada, becoming citizens and raising three children, Vivian Karnilavicius (Edmund,) Ron Mandzie (Colleen,) and Dan Mandzie (died 2004.) Addy will be greatly missed by her children, and grandchildren Erinn, Adam, Brigitte (Aaron,) Robin (Yeote,) and Erika (Rudin.) She will be remembered by everyone as a generous, witty, stylish and gentle woman. She loved plants, was a great cook and had a keen business sense. Addy had an inner motivation that was boundless; those she left behind share a deep pride in her strength and determination. Addy is putting her hat on now, preparing to join John, whom she missed and whose presence she often felt with her in the years after his passing. Visitation will be held at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St. on Monday, October 19, 2015, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Funeral Service will be held from the chapel after the visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
