Obituary

ZWARYCZ, Anastazia. Born in Kniazpil, Ukraine, January 28, 1920, passed away peacefully at the Ivan Franko Nusing Home on November 10, 2015 at the age of 95. Wife of the late Mykola of Lacko, Ukraine. Sadly missed by her son Zenowij and his wife Lucy; and her beloved granddaughters Tamara and Zoriana. After the war she lived in various D.P. camps in Germany and was active as a Ukrainian elementary teacher. She settled in the German city of Mönchengladbach. She immigrated to Canada in 1962 where she lived in Toronto and eventually settled in London, Ontario. In London she opened a Ukrainian Gift Store, “Arka London”. Anastazia was active in the local Ukrainian community in London, Ontario, especially the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s league at the local Ukrainian catholic church, serving as the branch’s President. Eventually she became the Secretary of the East Canada Eparchy Executive of the Ukrainian Women’s League of Canada. Throughout her life she traveled extensively, visiting Canada and the US, including Regina, Winnipeg, Montreal and Chicago. She returned to visit Germany and Ukraine, and also visited Australia, Hawaii, Italy, the Vatican, and France where she attended a pilgrimage to Lourdes. Vichnaya Pamyat! Friends are invited to visit at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St (just east of Keele St.), on Friday, November 13th from 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ The King Ukrainian Catholic Church, 707 Nelson St., London ON, on Monday, November 16th at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Peters Cemetery, London. In Anastazia's memory, donations may be made to the Ivan Franko Nursing Home. Vichnaya Pamyat!
