Dear Swyszcz Family, I am heartbroken to find this information online 4 years after the fact. I started the Standardized Patient program with Oryst at CMCC and working with him kept me sane, kept me laughing, and was the highlight of my time working there. He was such a good-hearted, loving, compassionate and hilarious man. When we needed a unique grand rounds case, we brought in my Dad and he and Oryst hit it off like long lost best friends. We lost touch after my Dad died in 2014. I wish we hadn't. He was my friend, my mentor, my buddy, my shoulder to cry on, and my surrogate Dad when I needed advice and most of all, my friend. He used to tell me all about his family and he loved every one of you so very much. He spoke so much about you that I feel that I know you. I still have the CD's of Pink Floyd that he made for me, determined to turn me into a Pink Floyd fan! I imagine he and my Dad somewhere together, talking for hours, my Dad teaching him to fly fish and showing him his favourite spots. This is such a shock to my system. I was actually looking him up today to get back in touch. My heart goes out to all of his family for the painful loss you are living with. I will always remember him fondly and miss him dearly.

Dear Friends and Family of Dr. Oryst; I was so very saddened to hear of your loss, and I grieve whole-heartedly with you. I have just returned from travels overseas for the past month, or I would have been at visitation with you in Toronto. I first met Oryst as an SP at CMCC, though in later times, he made me a proctor for CMCC exams. Oryst was such a great guy - and honestly engaged with everyone he met. He was genuinely interested in others, both as a doctor and friend. His energy knew no bounds...and what a set of lungs! I can still hear his voice shouting to be heard over the din of students aggressively entering exams. He loved sharing stories of his band days with me; partly, I think for the joy of reliving his moments, but also to build rapport as a fellow musician. He charmed everyone with a great sense of humour and dry wit - I smile when I think of his "professional" sense of comic timing... My heart breaks for you, as I am sure you will miss him so very much. Much love of friendship, and God Bless you all at this sorrowful time. Sincerely, RL (Rhonda Lee) Stephenson-Read, Gore's Landing, ON

So sorry to be writing so late. I was just informed by a fellow standardized patient on Facebook of Oryst's passing. I am now living in Regina so did not know. Oryst was very good to me and so many other occasional employees at the college. I appreciated his support and confidence in my abilities over several years. Oryst never lost his sense of humor. His loyalty to the SP's helped all of us greatly. He was very dedicated to the college. My condolences to his family.

My condolences to you. I'm so so very sorry to hear of Oryst's passing. I just found out now that Oryst had passed, or I would have come to the service. I worked for Oryst for years as an SP at the CMCC. He was kind, funny, smart. We used to joke that he had thumbs like drills, because when he showed us where something was supposed to hurt, we never forget. He always looked after us, made sure we had what we needed to do our jobs. And he got so excited about the cases. He was a born story teller and would get this twinkle in his eye as he invented details about the case. It was so wonderful to see that face of his, as he walked down the hallway to meet us. I'm so glad to have had the pleasure to have worked with Oryst. To have had him in my life. Oryst was one of a kind. I will miss him so much. We all will. Rest in Peace, Oryst. I hope somewhere up there you've found a band to gig with. And know we're all sending our love.

Dear Gail and family. It is with great sadness that I learned of Oryst's passing this week. We were colleagues at CMCC for over two decades and I always enjoyed our conversations and in particular, his wit and humour. Take comfort in knowing that he significantly impacted the lives of many young future chiropractors as a faculty member at the College and contributed greatly to enhancing the educational program at CMCC. We will miss him very much, but will always remember his love of music, quiet chuckle and twinkle in his eye when talking about his family. Our sincere condolences, Deborah and Ray Kopansky-Giles
