Obituary
Manuel Dos Anjos Cabral of Toronto, born in 1940 in Sao Miguel, Portugal, died peacefully on August 26, with his loving family by his side. Our gratitude to Dr. Sabrina Allegro at Humber River Hospital and his SRT health team for their ongoing care and support these past five months. Manuel’s kind, gentle character greatly enriched and will long continue to enrich the lives of many family members, especially his wife of over 50 years, Maria Angelina Cabral, and their daughter’s: Isabel (John) and Cecilia (Norbert). He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Megan, Andrew, Sarah and Kaitlyn. He also leaves behind his beloved brothers, Norbert (Fernanda), Joao Jose (Ermelinda) and younger brother Bill (Maria). In 1965, Manuel immigrated to Canada with very little to his name. He worked tirelessly as a head bartender and plumber for the majority of his life, helping those who needed it. During more than ten years of retirement, Manuel spent countless hours in his garden wearing his bright yellow gloves, planting beautiful flower arrangements that would later garner a city award. When Manuel wasn’t knee deep in soil, he could often be found at the local community centre, participating in Tai-Chi, Pilates, Senior Fitness and Computer courses. Manuel found joy in many other things, music and records, international soccer, browsing flea markets, a warm cup of tea, and, above all, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcomed at Cardinal Funeral Home (366 Bathurst Street) on Thursday, August 29 from 2–4 and 6–9 p.m. Manuel’s service will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (706 Old Weston Rd, Toronto), on Friday, August 30 at 9 a.m. Entombment at Prospect Cemetery - St. Clair Mausoleum (1450 St Clair Ave W) at 10:30 a.m.Visitation
