Obituary
Furfaro, Michele. On June 6, 2010 at St. Michael’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness, Michele passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He endured his battle for over 2 years, beating the odds. He always had great courage and determination. Born in San Giorgio Morgeto, Reggio Calabria, Italy, as a young teenager moved to Switzerland for employment to help support his family back home in Italy. At the age of 26 he moved to Toronto, Canada where he met his wonderful wife, lifetime partner, Natalina (nee Rao), who adored and loved him deeply. Michele was a very gentile kind, emotional and sympathetic genuine man, who lived his life for his wife and children, Anna (Anoush), Joseph (Sandra) and Cathy (Philippe). He will always be remembered for the love he gave so deeply to his 6 grandchildren, Kamron, Giuliana, Daniella, Ava, Chloe, and Alessandro. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Domenic, Gino, and predeceased by brother Pasqualino. His goodness and kindness lives on through his children and families. Michele loved to watch soccer and in his teenage years played semi-professional soccer in Switzerland. He enjoyed listening to opera and loved the country life at his farm in Pickering. We would like to thank all the doctors and staff at St. Michael’s Hospital for their enormous support and efforts, they truly are “urban angels”. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Friends may call at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst St. (near Dundas) on Monday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 72 Mansfield Ave. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Francis Restoration Fund, at 72 Mansfield Ave. Online condolences may be made at www.cardinalfuneralhomes.com.Visitation
