Antanina Sungaila/Sungailaite, 86, passed away at Toronto Western Hospital on December 19, 2016 after a sudden illness. Beloved mother of Donna MacDonald (Toronto/Miami) and Wayne MacDonald (GTA), ex-spouse of Joeseph MacDonald (GTA), sister of Jonas Sungaila (Toronto, deceased), aunt of Eugenia Sungaila (Toronto), grandmother of Aris Garifallidis (Oakville, deceased) and friend of his father Harry Garifallidis (Moncton). Born in Lithuania, December 8, 1930, immigrated to Canada as a teenager. Devout to her Roman Catholic faith, always proud of her Lithuanian heritage, she was a unique life traveller who touched many by just being herself. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St., Toronto, with Prayers at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass Wednesday 11 a.m. at Lithuanian Martyr's Church, 2185 Stavebank Rd., Mississauga. Burial to follow at St. John’s Lithuanian Cemetery, same location.Visitation

Donna, I am so sorry for your loss and am only comforted with knowing that you were able to spend these last 9 months with her. I am thankful that I got to meet her and was able to be a part of bringing you back to Canada to be with her.

Although Antanina and I parted ways as husband and wife many years ago, I care and respect her very much for the love she showed for our children. Both Donna and Wayne loved her very much and will miss her dearly. On December 8th. we went to dinner to celebrate her 86th. birthday, and sadly it was to be her last. May you rest in peace.
