Obituary

It is with great sadness in our hearts to announce that on Tuesday March 23rd, 2021, Alonso Libano-Ojier passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brave year -long battle with brain cancer at the age of 60. Alonso was born in Valparaiso, Chile on July 30, 1960 and immigrated to Canada in 1988 where he worked hard making a life in Canada and helped raise 4 amazing children. Alonso found joy in the outdoors in nature, spending time driving long beautiful scenic roads listening to his favourite music. The love and pride he had for his 4 children knew no bounds and spending time laughing, talking and sharing stories with family and friends is what made him cherish life and its little moments. He was a great man, who usually had a smile on his face and joke on his lips, he will be truly missed by all those whose lives he touched throughout the years, a life that touches others goes on forever. He is survived by his mother, Isabel Ojier, his 4 children, Fernando (Michelle), Andres, Rodrigo and Neko, his brother, Gerardo (Cecilia) and 4 nieces, Fabiana (Kellen), Daniela, Vanessa and Alexandra. We will forever miss his sense of humor, his stories about life and his infectious smile. “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.” Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love and condolences we have received. Current COVID-19 restrictions have limited our opportunity to gather and celebrate Alonso’s life, but a Celebration of Life Memorial will be held in the future. Flowers will be accepted at Cardinal Funeral home on Annette St. and notes of condolences will be accepted via email. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in Toronto, the service details will be kept private and in-person attendance will be by invite only. Virtual service details will be announced. Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
