Obituary

Ánibal da Conceição (October 16, 1932 – October 1, 2018) beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother died peacefully in his sleep at home early Monday morning. He leaves behind his dear wife of 61 years Gabriela, his daughter Fátima (Stephen Low), his grandson Andrew Low, Sarah (Stephen's daughter) and her family, and three sisters and their families in Portugal. He will be missed greatly by Fernando and Fernanda Correia and their family, and many neighbours on Montrose Avenue. He was born in Sertã, Castelo Branco, Portugal, the fifth of six children and the only surviving boy. He and Gabriela were married on February 17, 1957. In 1964, they decided that they would have a better future in Canada, and came to Toronto, where they have lived ever since. Conceição enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, discussing the issues and events of the day, watching "football" (soccer), tending his vegetable garden, and making wine and choriço. He also enjoyed going on frequent, long walks about the city.
