Obituary

Mr. Avelino Elias died peacefully in Humber River Regional Hospital on Friday, January 18th, 2019 at 12:20pm in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 97. Avelino is survived by his Daughter, Maria Fernandes Elias Correia of Vau, Amoreira, Concelho de Óbidos, Portugal, currently residing in Toronto, Ontario; Sisters, Adelina da Piedade and Arminda da Piedade of Vau, Amoreira, Concelho deÓbidos, PortugalHe is preceded in death by Parents, Sergio Francisco Elias and Maria da Piedade; Siblings, Maria da Ascensão, Francisco Elias, Rosa da Piedade, Celeste da Piedade, Luisa da Piedade José Francisco Elias and Joaquim Elias. Avelino Elias was born on December 8th, 1921 in Vau, Amoreira, Concelho de Óbidos, Portugal to Sergio Francisco Elias and Maria da Piedade. He married Fernanda da Conceição, his town sweetheart in 1949. After moving to Vale Benfeito, Amoreira, Concelho de Óbidos, Avelino began working in the farm fields as a Farmer. Over 3 Years, the couple welcomed a child into their home, Maria Fernandes EliasHis daughter remembers him as a kind, gentle, patient and youthful father who encouraged her to pursue her goals. Avelino Elias had a passion for farming and gardening. He was a generous individual who loved family and who was passionate about life. He enjoyed family gatherings, soccer, music and often spent time telling stories of his earlier life experiences. Avelino will be dearly missed by his daughter, Maria Fernandes Elias Correia; Son-in-law, Fernando Correia; Grandchildren, Helder Correia (Nelia) and Sergio Correia; along with all his beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
