Obituary
Ben Alexander Tycholis Passed away peacefully on October 16th, 2015, with his family by his side. Ben was born on October 6th, 1950, in Woodstock, Ontario. He spent most of his childhood days there before moving to Toronto to attend St. Basil-the-Great College School, where he was active in sports, pulled countless pranks, and made true lifelong friends. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Martha of 32 years and cherished daughters, Tanya and Tamara (Julian). He leaves behind his sisters Sophia, Mary (Jack), and Natalie (Max), brother-in-law George (Marika) and sisters-in-law Wira and Christine (Bohdan). As well as his eight nieces and nephews: Vanessa, Natasha, Alexis, Kathryn, Larissa, Roman, Andrew, and Sophia. Ben was a hard worker and was devoted to his career, which he began at Metropolitan Life back in 1974. He has been active with Met Life, Clarica, and Sun Life Financial as a financial advisor and had recently celebrated his 41st anniversary in the business. When not at the office or at home, he would be found on a golf course. To say he was an avid golfer, would be an understatement. He was passionate about golf, and many of his work appointments were held on the 1st tee. He also enjoyed fishing, biking, dancing, travelling, and generously donated his time to coaching hockey and organizing social events and golf tournaments. There is nothing that he loved more than his family and friends, and many of his friends became his family too. He had a selfless soul and was always positive and provided strength and love to those around him. He was loved deeply by his family and friends and has left a permanent mark on every heart he has touched. His smile has filled those around him with love, and now we can pass that love to others in his memory. He was the most patient and loving husband a wife could ever imagine and the most supportive and caring father two girls could ever ask for. Tato, you are loved more than you’ll ever know. Thank you to all the family members, close friends, priests, and nuns for the prayers and support during this unexpected difficult time. Donations in his memory may be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre or St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at the Cardinal Funeral Home (92 Annette Street) on Tuesday, October 20th from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. with Panakhyda at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church (4 Bellwoods Ave) on Wednesday, October 21st at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
