Obituary

Daniel John Anthony Lypka June 10, 1987 – April 14, 2016 Daniel was taken from us suddenly on Thursday April 14th, 2016 in his home town of Etobicoke. Beloved son of Bohdan and Helen (Semchyschyn) Lypka. Dear brother of Alexandra Lypka and her fiancé Zachary Langlois. Loving grandson of Anna and the late Michael Lypka, and Eugenia & Dmytro Semchyschyn. Nephew of Luba and Alex Maslej, Lesia and Kevin Rudd and Darlene and Ray Jarvis. Cousin of Kassandra & Mark Maslej, Melanie & Lucas Rudd and Raymond & Juliana Jarvis. Also surviving are many Great aunts and uncles, of which Aunt Lesia and Uncle Alex were very proud to be Daniel’s Godparents. Good-natured, generous, kind-hearted, selfless, a good friend, a good listener and a protector are all descriptions that help us to identify with whom Daniel was. Daniel was an avid sportsman; he enjoyed fishing, hockey, baseball, and soccer. A graduate of Etobicoke Collegiate Institute, he then continued his post secondary education at George Brown College embracing the trade of plumbing. When not working, he enjoyed time spent at the family cottage and vacationing in Florida. Most of all Daniel loved his family, and loved to be with his family. He was adored by his grandparents, aunts and uncles, an inspiration to his cousins, the constant protector of his sister and the love of his parents. Daniel’s passing leaves his family and friends with a profound and irreplaceable loss. Resting at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette Street (east of Keele St.), where his family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1-4 & 6-8 p.m. Panachyda at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass, Divine Liturgy, will be held at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 300 River Oaks Blvd (at the corner of Trafalgar Rd.) Oakville. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Volodymyr Cemetery, Oakville. As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made to the Daniel Lypka Trust Fund or to St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church. On-line condolences at www.cardinalfuneralhomes.com

I remember visiting my dear friend Helen on the day Daniel was born, so little blonde baby boy, Mom and Dad were thrilled, and his dimples...just got more pronounced as he got older; special wonderful smile. We'd visit each other Helen and I when the kids were small (they were all close in age); still have the memories of Brendan and Daniel playing Nerf basketball. Daniel adored his family, he was a sweet loving person...Daniel, be at Peace! Helen, I love you more than words my dear beautiful friend. May God cover you and your family with Grace, Peace, and Ease as you grieve. Love Always, Paula xoxo (Brendan and Mason)

In this time of devastating loss, it is difficult to think positively, but try to celebrate his life rather than mourn his passing. He was worth so much more in life than in death. My prayers are with you all.
