Obituary

KONDRATCHUC, Fedor (Fred) – On Friday, May 27, 2015 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, at age 81. Predeceased by his cherished sister Sarafina and brother-in-law Andrey (Bohuslawsky), of whose household he was an integral part for over 50 years. Fondly remembered by his nephews and nieces Kazimer and Walter (Bessie) Kondrachuk, Gregory, Maria (John Cook) and Boris Bohuslawsky, Nadine (John Renco) and by other family in Canada and Ukraine. A retiree of General Motors Oshawa where he worked for 30 years, Fred in his day was an avid fisherman, and many of us can remember idyllic summer days spent at Lake Simcoe on camping trips with him. Generous and open-hearted to family and friends, he was a gregarious conversationalist able quickly to find common ground with anyone he met, and his passing saddens us deeply. Panakhyda (prayer service) will be held Tuesday, May 31, 7:30 p.m., CARDINAL FUNERAL HOMES, ANNETTE CHAPEL, 92 Annette St., Toronto. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Orthodox Rite of Funeral to take place Wednesday, June 1, 10 a.m., at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1630 Dupont St., Toronto, M6P 3S7. Interment at Prospect Cemetery to be followed by a luncheon at St. Andrew’s Church. The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of The Annex retirement residence for providing Fred with cheer and support in his last months, and to the medical team of the neuropathology and palliative care units of St. Michael’s Hospital.
