Obituary

With great sadness we announce the passing of Frederick Adolphus Husbands who died peacefully at his home at 84A Arlington Avenue, Toronto Ontario on Thursday, May 30, 2024 in his 97th year. Frederick was born on December 12, 1926, in Bowling Alley Hill, Horse Hill, St. Joseph, Barbados, West Indies to Adriana Husbands and Charles Sargeant, the youngest of their three children, Sister Louise and Brother Frederick. After attending school, he was educated and trained in the Bricklayers and Stone Masonry Trades. He travelled extensively starting at the early age of sixteen outside of Barbados to United States of America, England, St. Vincent and Canada to work in his field, including home renovations. He met the love of his life in 1948 in Chimborazo, St. Joseph, and was married in 1950 and started a family of six children, Junie, Hendrick, Diana, Ruth, Janice and Jacqueline. He immigrated to Canada in 1966 to prepare a new home for his family who joined him in1967. The activities Dad enjoyed were dominoes, music and dancing, he took great joy dancing with his daughters whether at home or at social events. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his Beloved and Devoted Wife Marjorie; his children Hendrick (Adriana), Diana (Homard Ince), Ruth (Phillip Allder), Janice and Jacqueline, Nineteen Grand Children, Fifteen Great-Grand Children, many Nieces and Nephews, Cousins and Friends. He was predeceased by his Mother Adriana Husbands, Father Charles Sargeant; Sisters Louise Husbands, Monty Sargeant and Louise Cumberbatch; Brothers Frederick Husbands, Sydney Walker, Ruthan Walker, Melvin Sargeant. On behalf of Frederick’s family, sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses, medical teams and PSW’s who took great care of him with such love, patience, compassion and devotion, and all others for their many telephone calls, chats and showing of support in many other ways during Frederick’s illness.
