Peacefully, at home, surrounded by love, as were his family's wishes, in his 78th year, on September 23, 2006, after a courageous 10 year battle with prostate cancer. George, beloved and devoted husband of Mary (Kotack) for 56 years, loving father of Patricia and her husband Myron Washchyshyn, proud and adoring Granddad of Marika. Lovingly remembered by his brother Gordon, and sister Helen McNeil and their families. Predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Robert Sr. and brother Robert Jr. George will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, extended family members, countless friends and many honorary grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of his precious family and friends, his sense of humour, for how he loved to dance and his beautiful tenor voice. His family wishes to thank their family and friends, Father Terry Lozynsky, Father Stephen Deak, Dr. William Dymon, Dr. Hormoz Hamrahi and the superb Palliative team at Toronto Grace Hospital, Tara Swift of Spectrum Health Care, Beatriz, Alla and PearlAnne of Thornbrook Homecare, and the staff at Kingsway-on-the-Park Condominiums for all their help and support in the past months. George will be resting at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette Street from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26. Prayers at 7:30 on Tuesday evening. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to Christ the Good Shepherd, where George spent many happy hours with friends, or to the Toronto Grace Hospital Palliative Care Unit, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
