Gilberto Araujo was a well spoken philosphical person who always seen the glass as half full. Putting the needs of others first and acting as a gentle mentor.
His generiosity and luminous personality will be missed, but we take great comfort in knowing he left the world and his beloved Maderia a better place than when he arrived

Our condolence to the family. Gilberto was very well loved by all that knew him. I fondly remember Gilberto coming by our home to visit my dad (Carlos Gomes) every week. We all enjoyed his company and his stories. He will be missed by all that knew him.

My prayers and condolences to all of you who were lucky enough to call this great man family. I have so many fond and wonderful memories of Sr. Gilberto. Even before I was in the Rancho, Sr. Gilberto was the jolly man who played Santa Claus every Christmas. But most of my memories of him are as the kind, warm, and thoughtful "grandfather" figure of our Rancho. He always took the time to talk to me and ask me how I was. I will never forget how happy he was to see our Rancho Infantil perform. As Club Secretary Sr. Gilberto wrote the most descriptive letters to the members every month. As I learned to read Portuguese I would read the letters to my parents and I remember sharing Sr.Gilberto's memories of life in Madeira. He was a great writer, as his love and pride of being Madeirense shined through every letter. Sr. Gilberto was very much responsible for the sharing of our special Madeirense culture here in Toronto. Sr. Gilberto I will miss you so very much. You will never be forgotten. You have impacted so many lives. Descanse em paz.
