Obituary

Due to the current pandemic restrictions and under direction from our regulator, the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, effective November 23, 2020 all funerals and visitations will be by invitation only to limit the number of people in attendance and prevent the spread of COVID-19. We encourage those that are unable to attend in person to express their sympathy by posting a message of condolence to our website.   God called upon Jacinto Medeiros peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the age of 89. He will be forever missed and cherished by his wife Teresa of 59 years and by his two sons,  Jim (Sue), and Jesse (Fatima). Proud grandfather to Sarah (Garett), Mitchell (Cristina) and Lucas, Julia and Mattaeus. Proud great grandfather to Grayson (Sarah/Garett). Jacinto will always be remembered by all of his living relatives including godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s. Jacinto was well known for his generous spirit and eagerness to share stories of his life. He celebrated his 23rd birthday on a ship as he journeyed to a new country in 1954. Landing on the shores of Nova Scotia, Pier 21, he travelled to Quebec to work on a farm and then off to work on the rail lines in northern Ontario.  He did what had to be done to make a better life for himself. He was never one to wait for a handout, hard work was never very far away and always found its way to his doorstep. As a young man that couldn’t speak a word of the English language and with only a couple of dollars in his pocket, he forged a successful and prosperous life for himself and his family. He enjoyed spending time with those he loved dearly. He will be missed by those he touched over the years. He was always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need and was renowned for his endless ability to listen, tell a joke and to give guidance to those who came to know him. Living an arduous life, his resilience and his positivity was fortified by his hard work ethic. A loving man, he dedicated himself to his family and friends and loved nothing more than to be surrounded by loved ones.  Jacinto touched many lives. His optimism, warmth, spirituality, compassion, and selflessness will be missed by his wide circle of extended family and friends. His devotion and firm belief in God ultimately gave him peace. His sons could not ask for a better role model, so proud and so loved. Family and friends express our gratitude to the staff at St Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto for their compassion and excellent care provided to our father in his final days. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St Joseph’s Health Centre.
