Obituary

It is with a saddened heart that we say goodbye to Jose Gil, who passed away suddenly on March 2, 2021, 73 years young.

Jose was a loving and caring husband to Maria Do Carmo of close to 50 years.  Jose and Maria raised 3 children Ricardo (Nezia), Rui (Ana Maria) and Liz (Paulo).  A fun loving grandfather of his adoring grandchildren Ethan, Jordan, Emma, Nina, Olivia and Lyla.

Jose was a quiet and kind soul, who had an incredible sense of humour and who loved to dance.

Jose was one of the first volunteer firefighters in his home region of Furnas, Povoacao and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.

Jose and Maria courageously left their lives behind in Sao Miguel and immigrated to Canada with their children in 1991.  Their goal was to give their children a better future and life and he was proud of this.

“Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means we’ll miss you until we meet again.”

Due to the current pandemic restrictions and under direction from our regulator, the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, effective November 23, 2020 all funerals and visitations will be by invitation only to limit the number of people in attendance and prevent the spread of COVID-19. We encourage those that are unable to attend in person to express their sympathy by posting a message of condolence to our website, donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Jose or by sending flowers to the funeral home.
