Obituary

Manuel de Sousa Victorino March 13, 1941 – November 25, 2018   God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be So he put his arms around him and whispered “Come home to me”   It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the Victorino family announces the peaceful passing of Manuel at Kensington Gardens nursing home on Sunday November 25, 2018 at the age of 77 after a prolonged illness.   Manuel was predeceased by his beloved son Jerry in 1988.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Laura and his daughters Cristina (Luis), Nelia (George), Stella (Pedro) and Laura (Ryan).  Cherished vovô to Rachel, Christian, Monika, Aidan, Evan and Jamie.   Born in Sao Roque, Azores, Portugal to Boa Nova and Manuel Victorino.  He was much loved by his 4 sisters (Lucia, Victoria, Normanda and Amelia), 2 brothers (Edmundo and Carlos Alberto) and a very large extended family.  As a young man he served in the Portuguese army in Angola.  He married the love of his life Laura in 1966 and they immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1969.   Manuel worked for many years at Toronto and Canada Brick until his retirement.  He served as local union president for a time with the company. He was a master card and domino player.  A nature enthusiast, outdoorsman and an environmentalist before it was a thing. He loved to travel, dirt bike ride, fish, swim and spent many summer weekends at the beach with family and friends.  He loved animals and gardening and was always so happy when he got to harvest his fruits and veggies.   Manuel will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, great sense of humour, positive and optimistic outlook on life even at the darkest times.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.   Until we meet again.

My deepest condolences Christina, Nelia, Stella and Laura on the loss of your father. And to your mother who has lost her life partner. May the memories you share of your dad bring you comfort in the days to come. Trust that his physical presence may not be here but his spiritual being will ALWAYS be there to celebrate with you, grieve with you and guide you in your continued journeys. The love of a parent never ends.❤
