Obituary

On Sunday, November fourteenth, 2021, Mariano Amaral Borges passed away quite shockingly at the age of seventy-three while being treated at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Toronto.  He is survived by his devoted wife Margarida, and his sons John and Brian.  He was born to Jose and Ambrozina on September 24th, 1948 in the village of Ribeirinha, Azores, Portugal as the second youngest sibling to his sisters Eduarda and Zelia, and his brothers Jose Adriano and Antonio. His childhood was occupied by working on his parents farm and attending school.  In search of better opportunities, he decided as a teenager to enroll in the military, and as a soldier, he developed some life long friendships.  After his military service, he emigrated to Canada during January of 1970 to be with his girlfriend and later wife Margarida.  Construction labourer would become his job of choice until he retired in 2010.  He attended church weekly as a proud Roman Catholic, most recently he volunteered at St. Anthony's Church.  Mariano will be remembered for his duty to his country, dedication to his job, delightful singing voice, being a prankster, and devotion to his family.
