From the Costa family: We are so very sorry for your loss. To Tia Maria, cousins Ed/Judy, Lucy, Mario, Stacie/Paul, Tony – please take the time to reflect on the good years you had as a family. Tio Matos was a strong presence, a gracious host and thoughtful person. My parents and your parents spend times having good meals and keeping each other company in person or by phone, reminiscing. We are so very thankful to have seen him before his passing and appreciated that time speaking with him. May he rest in peace and Tia Maria find comfort that he is no longer suffering. Please support each other as you learn to live life without your father. Much love.

The world has lost an amazing man who will be sorely missed. He was always spoken of with pride and bursting love. A true testament to the wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he was. One story sticks in my mind out of the many my mother shared. Where Eddie, Mario, herself and granddad went down to the ocean in the Azores. She always said how the waves crashed around the three children but grandpa held them safe and steady. He was their rock. My mom will always say that was her dad, throughout all of his life, he was strong and steady. A true rock of love and support to all. Our deepest condolences on the passing of this great man.
