Dear Emma;
My heart was crushed when a coworker conveyed the egregious news of Rui's sudden passing. Notwithstanding the integrity, honesty and humility in which he carried himself, it is his compassion for others for which I remember him most. When I was in Toronto Western Hospital recovering from a stroke, he visited me twice, saying he was on his way home, and stopped by to say "hi". I'm humbled and forever grateful God had sent him into my life and affect me in such an outstanding way. May God bless you and family every single day!

It is so sad that Rui is no longer amongst his family and friends, here on earth; but he remains in our hearts and may his soul be at peace in Heaven. He was a very proud and well spoken man who stood for what he believed in.

Rui and I used to work together. His sense of humour, intelligence, and kindness will never be forgotten. He had very strong beliefs, and lots of integrity. The world was a better place with him in it. I'm so sorry he had to leave us all, especially his family. He spoke of all of you quite often, and it was obvious that his family was his world.

I was very saddened to hear of Rui's passing. Always, he was so full of life and energy. Always greeted everyone with a smile, open hearted with opened hands reached out in friendship.

My deepest condolences to the family,and friends. I worked with Rui for 5 years at the Marriott. He always watched out for people. From day one he made me feel welcome to the Marriott family. We shared a deam about retiring in the Algarve where my husband's family is from. He use to tell me all about the great deals flying home. He always spoke of his family to me.
