Obituary
It is with deepest sadness that the family of Stepan (Steve) Chorney announces his peaceful passing on May 25th 2016 of the age of 92. Stepan, a true gentleman, was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, father in-law and brother in law. He leaves behind his wife Zonia (Sophie), daughters Genya Woloshyn (Steve), Darusia (Roman Bezubko) and their families and sister Paranya Antoniv and family. He was a man of faith who was active and respected within the Ukrainian community. Stepan served as a long time president of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood of Canada at Holy Protection Church in Toronto. He was also a long time member of the Prometheus Male Choir and his church choir. For many years he was a representative of the Ukrainian National Association (UNA) insurance company, as well as a member of the Kozatstvo Organization. He left his home in Bobulyntsi, Ukraine during the Second World War to seek freedom and opportunity. He reached Canada in 1948, married and raised his family. He retired after many years of service as a Statistical Clerk at the CN railroad. Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St., Toronto on Thursday May 26th from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Panachyda 8 p.m. A Divine Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m., on Friday May 27th at The Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection, 30 Leeds St., Toronto. Interment will be held at Glendale Cemetery.Visitation
