Obituary
Taras was born in Toronto, Ontario June 26, 1959 to Bohdan Temniuk and Vera Court (deceased), brother of Natalie Cheff, Maksym Temniuk, and Maria Temniuk (deceased). Father of Nickolas Temniuk and Katherine Temniuk. Grandson of Nickifor and Mary Temniuk (both deceased). Former husband to Janice Varvel and to Donna May.
His proudest accomplishments are his children, Nickolas and Katie. And of course he is a proud grandfather of Nickolas' children, Sadie and Annabelle Temniuk. Loving uncle to Jovan Cheff, Elisha Cheff, Nathan Cheff, and Lauren Cheff. He always held his friends close and cared greatly for them.
Taras went to Harbord Collegiate High School where he explored his talents, with music and sports. He played the french horn, and was very athletic with running and football. He also went to Ukrainian school.
When Taras finished school, he entered into the hospitality industry as bellman for a major hotel company. He was a very determined and hard-working man and after a few years, he worked his way through front desk, night audit, and then started in the accounting department. Through hard work and learning well on the job, he rose to the position of Controller, running accounting departments for various hotels in the Toronto area.
There are nice memories that he holds dear to his heart, one of those being when he interviewed for the job at Cambridge Suites Hotel in Toronto, he came to Halifax and was interviewed for the position. He was there for a couple days and went by the water a lot and even dipped his foot in the ocean. He got the job and the following week was sent for software training in San Francisco. He stayed for an extra week and ended up dipping his foot in the Pacific. Within 10 days he has dipped his foot for the first time in the Atlantic Ocean and then in the Pacific Ocean. He thought that was so cool. He mentioned that regularly throughout the years as it had quite the impact on him. In 1996, he moved his family to Nova Scotia. Taras started as Controller for a small manufacturing company located in the basement of the owner's home. This company built precision dispensing equipment primarily for Tim Hortons Canada. Through diligent hard work and developing strategic business plans, he helped the company grow enough to eventually move twice, first into a smaller renovated warehouse, and then into a 65,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art multi-million dollar manufacturing plant. And helping expand the business into the US market. He spent the rest of his working years with his company and enjoyed every bit of it.
He loved the outdoors, fishing and exploring, mainly by driving but he did like to get out and hike.
Although he is no longer with us, he still watches over us and will always be in our hearts. He rests peacefully and without any pain.
Donations to the Ukrainian Army or the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection of the Mother of God would be appreciated by the family.
