I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew Walter back in 1978. I'm finally reading old journals/diaries (for a memoir I'm working on). This morning I started reading entries about when Walter and I worked together on contract positions checking seniors income tax forms to confirm the sincerity of their returns. We were both disheartened at the amount of paperwork and money devoted to trying to catch senior citizens in a lie. I thought I'd do a google search (just now) and stumbled upon his obit. Oh my, ... I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. From what I recall, he was a really nice guy. I must say, I'm a bit taken aback by the serendipity of the timing of this. I guess, nature way of informing us.

Alex and Steph: I met Vlad when he was assigned to MICC's Montreal office on a one-week "underwriters" exchange in the spring of 1973. As the kid in the office I became his host that week. We laughed our way through the working day and in the evenings we went out and toured my town. One night we saw Last Tango in Paris. The following week I flew to Toronto and Vlad hosted me as only he could do. One day on my leg of the exchange Vlad said we had to run across the street to city hall to see Dan and Jane getting married! Although we missed the ceremony we did get to see them outside. It was an intense two weeks, which I have never forgotten, though some of the details are hazy. This is the man I remember and whenever I see you guys, I am reminded of that young vibrant soulful Vlad. Nadine, Fanny and I are sorry for your loss.

Alex and Stephen, my condolences to you both.. Your father exited this stage of life well before his time. The last time I saw Wally he was in good spirits, enjoying the wonderful view from his condo. But mostly he was thrilled to be a grandfather. May you carry and share wonderful memories of your dad.

It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of my dear friend Wally. Wally was a dear friend and supporter of mine since we started to work together at First City Trust in the early 1990’s. He was my champion within First City, first as my boss, and then as my client. He is responsible for my transition from banker to entrepreneur, starting in 1994, with First City and Wally as my first customer, and was my biggest advocate and supporter; an unwavering commitment that continued until his last day on God’s earth. With that foundation of love and support, I have been able to achieve, and to continue to pursue a life of opportunity simply unimaginable twenty years ago. Wally will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Goodbye dear friend, until we raise our next glass together. Regards, Tom

So sad to hear of Wally's passing and our thoughts are with all the family. Although we have not seen Vlad in many years his warm and fun-loving spirit was such a magnificent thing to be a part of and made the days at Humberside so memorable. Later, the years before kids and the fabulous times at Red Bay and then those family times after they arrived will always have a place in our hearts.

My Sincerest Condolences to Walter's Family. We grew up together from the age of six when he lived on Parkside Drive and were close friends through our early twenties. I will always have fond memories of the havoc we caused as youngsters roaming the neighborhood especially around High Park and the local tennis club. His Mother always referred to us as her two little peanuts. I shall also remember the many wonderful days spent at the cottage in Red Bay and at Sauble Beach, just the two of us cruising in my convertible Cutlass, enjoying the sunshine, experiencing the joys of youth. Although we, as many young folks do, eventually get married, raise families and sometimes see less of our friends it was always great to run in to Walter and catch up on the latest news. I know he was so proud of his sons and their participation in the High Park Baseball League. Our Thoughts and Prayers are with the Family during this difficult time. Sincerely, Trevor and Leticia Devine
