Obituary

He was born in Rohatyn, Ukraine on May 24, 1924 and passed away at the Ivan Franko Seniors’ Residence on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the age of 84. Predeceased by his beloved and very caring wife Anastasia (2007).  He is survived by his children Walter and his wife Lynda, Mary and her husband John Norris. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren; Kristy (Brad Metzger), Andrew, Jason, Jordan and Robin. Dearly loved and sadly missed by his family and all those who knew him over these many years both here and in Ukraine. Dido lived through some very difficult times and was able to overcome those many challenges throughout his life. He died as he lived, without fear or regard for self but an unwavering concern for the welfare of others. May God bless him and keep him in the palm of His hand. The family wishes to thank all the staff and supervisors at Ivan Franko Seniors’ Home for their unwavering support and kindness while a resident at the home. Visitation at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St., (east of Keele) on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 2-4  and 6-9 p.m., with a Panachyda at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will commence at  9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from the funeral home, then to St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral (143 Franklin Ave.) for the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., followed by the interment at St. Volodymyr Cemetery, Oakville. As an expression of sympathy donations to Children of Chornobyl will be appreciated by his family.
