Obituary

In celebration of…

Albertina Rosa Torrão

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 7, 2021, at the young age of 100. Predeceased by her late husband Agostinho Paulo Pires. Beloved mother to Jose Agostinho (Maria da Cruz), Norberto (Eugenia), Heliodora (Adelino) and Felisbela (Norberto). Adored by her grandchildren Helen (Val), Dulce (Mike), Rogerio, Elda (Luciano), Bela (Rick), Elia (Tiberio), Jeffrey (Maya) and Elder (Mariana) and great grandchildren Daniel, Emily, Bruno, Pedro, Cruz, Tatiana, Ryan, Noah and Liam. The family would like to extend a warm note of appreciation to the wonderful nurses and staff at Castleview Towers 4th floor for their loving attention, respect and care during Albertina’s residence. Albertina was born and grew up in the small towns of Malhadas and Genísio, Portugal. She spent the last 40 years in Canada surrounded by her family. She was a woman of many words and would spend hours talking about her life back home, sharing stories of her younger years labouring on the land, caring for her cattle and dancing out in the streets at the “feiras”. She will be remembered as the invincible woman with a heart that never quit. After beating for 36,540 days, her heart and soul will continue to live in the eternal life. She will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
