Obituary

Anastasia was born in Zolochiwka, Ukraine on July 18th, 1925 and passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Palliative Care Unit (Toronto Rehabilitation Institute) on Tuesday, March 20th, 2007, having lost her valiant battle with cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband Wasyl, her children Walter and his wife Lynda, Mary and her husband John Norris. Fondly remembered by the grandchildren Kristy (Brad Metzger), Andrew, Jason, Jordan and Robin. Dearly loved and sadly missed by her family and all those who knew her over these many years both here and in Ukraine. Baba lived through some very difficult times and was able to overcome many challenges in her life with a deep seeded Faith and a warm Loving and Caring respect for all. She died as she lived, without fear or regard for self but an unwavering concern for the welfare of others. May God Bless her and keep her in the Palm of His Hand. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their support and kindness throughout Baba's hospitalization. Visitation at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette Street (near Keele), on Thursday, March 22 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Panachyda 7:30 p.m. Processional prayers will commence at the funeral home on Friday, March 23 at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass which will be held at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral (143 Franklin Avenue) at 10 a.m. Interment at St.Volodymyr Cemetery, Oakville. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
