Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Bajer on Wednesday April 26, 2023, in her one-hundredth year. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Anna is reunited with her beloved husband Peter, daughter Irene, and son Paul. Anna is deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her five grandchildren Andrian, Markian (Adela), Tania (Jeff), Yuri (Siurlin), and Callayna (Jordan), and family and friends in Canada, the United States, and Ukraine. Anna served others as a nurse and was unconditionally dedicated to her family. She was supportive of cultural, Christian, and Ukrainian Canadian programs, including charitable organizations and initiatives. Her drive to help others is an inspiration for her grandchildren, and the many lives she touched. Anna rests at the Cardinal Funeral Home Annette Chapel, 92 Annette St., Toronto, with visitation on Monday May 1st between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday May 2nd at All Saints of Ukraine Chapel, 1280 Dundas St W, Oakville, at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Volodymyr’s Cemetery in Oakville. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Marjorie Decena and her family who provided Anna with exemplary care for many years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canada Ukraine Foundation - Dzherelo Fund, in support of educational and rehabilitation services for Ukrainian children.

I'm late as I just found that Hala has passed. My condolenses to the Grand Children Hala, came to Canada 1947? arrived in Brantford, Ont with two other girls. The community held a tea for them and the Ukrainian's attended could chose one of them if they wanted too, to be part of their family. My Mother chose Hala to be our adopted daughter and part of our family. She told us that she was an orphan and did not know her birth date, She told my Mother of her early days, but it was never disclosed to us. My Mother always wanted a daughter and Hala was the one. She was a nurses aid at Brantford General Hospital and lived at the nurses residence, her days off were Tue and Thur. and she spent these days with us. We all loved her, her sweet talk, soft voice. I am sure that she met up with her adopted Mother in Heaven, my Mother would love that. She always called me "Stannick" I loved that RIP Hala Stan Kwasniowski Calgary, Alberta

Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your Grandmother. Anna Bajer was one of our nicest neighbours; gentle, kind and considerate. Happy to have so many warm memories of her.
